About Us

The FREE Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing women’s reproductive health through groundbreaking research, global collaboration, and community-centered initiatives. Our work focuses on addressing under-researched and often misunderstood conditions, such as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and Adrenal Hyperplasia, disorders that affect up to 20% of women of reproductive age worldwide, yet remain critically underdiagnosed and underserved.

By investigating the root causes, variations in presentation, and long-term impacts of these conditions across diverse populations, we aim to close the knowledge gap and drive innovations in diagnosis, treatment, and care. Through partnerships with international co-investigators and support for emerging scholars, we’re building a more inclusive and informed approach to women’s health, one that recognizes the complexity of these disorders and the urgency of addressing them globally.

What We Do

At the Foundation for Research and Education Excellence (FREE Foundation), we believe every woman deserves access to accurate diagnoses, effective treatment, and compassionate care, no matter where she lives. Our mission is to transform women’s health by addressing one of the most under-recognized areas in medicine: androgen excess disorders, including Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and Adrenal Hyperplasia.

Our work begins with research. Through our global partnerships, we collaborate with leading co- investigators, healthcare providers, and scholars in regions as diverse as Trinidad & Tobago, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Nigeria, Ghana, and Alabama. Together, we study how these disorders affect women from different backgrounds, gathering data, analyzing genetic markers, and uncovering environmental factors that contribute to these complex conditions.

But research alone isn’t enough. That’s why we also invest in the next generation of scholars and researchers, offering mentorship and support to those dedicated to advancing women’s health. Many of our scholars have published their findings in respected journals, contributing to a growing body of knowledge that will shape healthcare policies and practices for years to come.

We work closely with local communities, ensuring our research is informed by the lived experiences of women often overlooked by traditional healthcare systems. Whether through community engagement, stakeholder collaboration, or public health initiatives, we are building bridges between science and society.

By combining rigorous science with advocacy, education, and global partnerships, the FREE Foundation is not only changing the conversation around women’s health, we’re changing lives.
